Vitamin C
Also known as ascorbic acid, Vitamin C is a water soluble chemical substance that ensures the body is in the pink of health. A deficiency of Vitamin C causes Scurvy, a deadly disease that mainly affects people who do not have access to fresh vegetables and fruits.
Just like any other vitamin, Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant. The human body contains many free radicals that cause damage to the cellular system and antioxidants help neutralize these radicals. Vitamin C also helps slow down the aging process and accelerates the body’s healing process. Some believe
that the common cold can be prevented with adequate levels of Vitamin C although there is a lack of evidence to prove this. Various studies and research have shown that Vitamin C can at least bring down the severity of cold after the body has been infected. This is a direct result of its immune system boosting property.
It increases the strength of the arteries that makes it more resistant to injuries. Studies have also shown its benefits in heart disease prevention. Vitamin C is also extremely good for the eyes and helps in the prevention of cataract, a disease that causes poor vision.
