Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is a part of the Vitamin B set and is also known as the “anti-stress” vitamin. The most important function Vitamin B12 performs in the body is helping in red blood cell creation. During the process of cell division, Vitamin B12 aids in DNA replication. It also helps in the synthesis of a complex protein called myelin and is a vital ingredient that helps maintain neurological balance in the body.
It is also an immune system booster and increases the body’s ability to bear conditions that are stressful. Animal foods are the natural sources of Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is found in large quantities
in dairy products, meat, and eggs.
So far, no research has led to any conclusion related to plant sources of Vitamin B12. However, it is generally understood that the presence of Vitamin B12 in plant foods is extremely variable and hence cannot be depended upon as safe sources of Vitamin B12.
When compared to other that the body requires, Vitamin B12 is truly extraordinary since the body requires only minute amounts of it. However, despite the body’s minimal requirement of Vitamin B12, it still is an essential ingredient that acts as a catalyst for some of the body’s various processes.
